Upcoming Datasets

Publication schedule

The majority of ICCR datasets scheduled to be developed will be in response to updates of the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumours or applicable staging system. However, additional datasets are scheduled where there are specific needs to be addressed and resources available.

Genitourinary

In synchrony with the updates to the WHO Classification of Urinary and Male Genital Tumours, the ICCR has updated 12 existing datasets as follows:

• Germ cell tumours of the testis – orchidectomy (update of 1st edition). PUBLISHED
• Neoplasia of the testis – retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy (update of 1st edition). PUBLISHED
• Carcinoma of the penis and distal urethra (update of 1st edition). PUBLISHED
• Prostate cancer – radical prostatectomy specimen (update of 2nd edition). PUBLISHED
• Prostate cancer – transurethral resection and enucleation (update of 1st edition). PUBLISHED
• Prostate – core needle biopsy (update of 1st edition). PUBLISHED
• Renal biopsy for tumour (update of 1st edition). UNDER REVIEW POST CONSULTATION
• Renal epithelial neoplasms (update of 1st edition). UNDER REVIEW POST CONSULTATION
• Carcinoma of the bladder – cystectomy, cystoprostatectomy and diverticulectomy specimen (update of 1st edition)
• Carcinoma of the renal pelvis and ureter – nephroureterectomy and ureterectomy specimen (update of 1st edition)
• Carcinoma of the urethra – urethrectomy specimen (update of 1st edition)
• Urinary tract carcinoma – biopsy and transurethral resection specimen (update of 1st edition)

Open consultation on the Renal biopsy for tumour (2nd edition) and Renal epithelial neoplasms (2nd edition) datasets has closed. We anticipate the datasets will be published in the first quarter of 2025.

The Urinary tract datasets are expected to go to open consultation in the first quarter of 2025.

Endocrine

In synchrony with the updates to the WHO Classification of Endocrine and Neuroendocrine Tumours, the ICCR has updated four existing datasets as follows:

• Carcinoma of the adrenal cortex (update of 1st edition)
• Parathyroid carcinoma & atypical parathyroid neoplasm (update of 1st edition)
• Phaeochromocytoma and paraganglioma (update of 1st edition)
• Carcinoma of the thyroid (update of 2nd edition)

Open consultation is expected in the first quarter of 2025. We anticipate the datasets will be published in the second quarter of 2025.

Digestive Tract

In synchrony with planned updates to the WHO Classification of Digestive System Tumours, the ICCR has developed five new datasets as follows:

• Carcinoma of the appendix
• Carcinoma of the anus – local excision specimen
• Carcinoma of the anus – abdominoperineal excision specimen
• Carcinoma of the gallbladder
• Liver metastasis resection

Open consultation is expected in the second quarter of 2025. We anticipate the datasets will be published in the third quarter of 2025.

Neuroendocrine Tumours

In synchrony with updates to the WHO Classification of Endocrine and Neuroendocrine Tumours and planned updates to the WHO Classification of Digestive System Tumours, the ICCR is in the initial stages of development of a new dataset for neuroendocrine tumours (including pancreas, luminal gut and unknown primary site).

Open consultation is expected in the second half of 2025.

Haematolymphoid Tumours

In synchrony with updates to the WHO Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours, the ICCR is in the initial stages of development of three new datasets as follows:

• Lymphoid
• Myeloid
• Plasma cell myeloma

Open consultation is expected in the second half of 2025.

Skin

In synchrony with updates to the WHO Classification of Skin Tumours, the ICCR is in the initial stages of updating two existing datasets as follows:

• Invasive melanoma (update of 2nd edition)
• Merkel cell carcinoma (update of 1st edition)

Open consultation is expected in the second half of 2025.

All ICCR datasets that include TNM staging have been updated to the 8th edition.
