In memoriam – Professor Naveena Singh
April 2024
The gynaeoncology community around the world mourns the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Professor Naveena Singh.
Professor Singh received her pathology training in India and the United Kingdom, establishing herself as a distinguished gynaecological histopathologist, with a special interest in gynaecological cancer. Her contributions to the field of pathology were significant, helping to refine the reporting of gynaecological cancers, which were incorporated into numerous guidelines, book chapters and scientific articles. She was a valued member of several professional societies and expert committees, and she generously imparted her knowledge through teaching endeavours and spearheaded collaborative research initiatives globally. She led national and international collaborative studies and contributed to many research trials and quality improvement projects, focusing on improving accuracy and precision in gynaecological histopathology reporting.
Professor Singh was a member of the ICCR dataset authoring committees for Vulva, Vagina and Ovary. It was a pleasure and a privilege to work with Professor Singh on these ICCR datasets and her absence is deeply felt by all those who knew her. The ICCR extends our sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.
